Old Oregon Trail Accident Injures Six

On Thursday, December 19, 2019, a vehicle accident that took place on Old Oregon Trail just north of Redding left six individuals with injuries ranging from minor to serious. According to reports from California Highway Patrol (CHP), the crash involved two vehicles, and several of the injured parties were transported to a nearby hospital for emergency treatment. Additionally, CHP is actively investigating possible causes of this incident.

Crash Details

Police stated that the accident happened at about 9:30 p.m. on Old Oregon Trail close to the Tierra Oaks Golf Club a couple miles north of Redding. The accident involved a white SUV and a dark-colored pickup truck that reportedly collided head-on. Photos taken at the accident scene show extreme damage to the front ends of both vehicles.

CHP dispatched emergency response staff to the area directly after receiving notification about the incident. When they arrived, officials discovered that four people had suffered minor injuries, and two had suffered serious trauma. According to reports, the driver of the pickup truck may have suffered a leg fracture. The total number of people hospitalized after the collision was not reported.

Investigation

As officers of CHP continue their accident investigation, police haven’t reported any suspected crash factors. Crashes like this one are common and are frequently caused by factors that drivers simply can’t control. These can include hazardous roadway obstacles, pavement defects, car part defects, and more.

Head-On Accidents

Head-on accidents are a very dangerous type of crash. Because both vehicles transfer their full momentum into the accident, the amount of force involved in a head-on crash is much greater than most other collision types. Furthermore, in head-on accidents, occupants rely heavily on vehicle safety features such as airbags, seat belts, and crash resistance to keep them safe. Because of these factors, head-on accidents are liable to leave people with major or even fatal injuries.

Recovering from a Crash Injury

The process of recovery after suffering an accident injury can be hard. Not only are accident survivors often faced with a long, painful path to regaining their health, but recovery is also often very expensive. Many crash injuries require multiple medical procedures, extended hospital stays, long-term physical therapy and medication use, and more. Altogether, these costs can seem impossibly high and leave many wondering how they will be able to pay for the care they need.

This is why it’s critical to get in touch with a Redding personal injury attorney who can help you obtain payments for the damages you’ve suffered. By filing a personal injury claim, crash survivors are able to hold liable parties responsible for medical expenses as well as other damages like lost income, personal suffering, and more. To learn more, it’s best to talk directly with a lawyer in your area.
