Investigation Underway to Determine Cause of Single-Vehicle Accident

Investigating a Fatality Crash Suspected of Being a Wrongful Death

If a loved one has been killed in a single-vehicle accident, there are certain steps that must be taken to determine if the death was caused by negligence. It is important to seek legal counsel in order to understand the process of investigating any potential wrongful death or fatal accident. The first step in determining if a death was due to negligence is to examine the facts of the crash and identify any potential parties that could have caused the single-vehicle crash. If no other drivers were involved, then other areas are examined.

Defective Auto Parts

A defect in an auto part, such as the brakes, accelerator, steering or motor itself, can lead to a single-vehicle collision. This makes it important to retain a vehicle after a fatal collision to examine it for defects. If a defective part is found that led to the single-vehicle crash, an injury lawyer can help you file an auto product liability claim to recover damages against the manufacturer and others involved in the production line.

Roadway Negligence as the Cause of a Single-Vehicle Accident

Potholes, debris, and other signs of a poorly maintained roadway can lead to an injury or fatality accident. If roadway negligence was the cause, the government entity may be responsible, and a claim can be filed against them. However, because the time limit to file a government claim is six months, enlisting the help of an injury lawyer is probably a good move.

An Injury Lawyer Will Protect Your Rights and Help You Obtain Compensation

No matter what steps are taken to investigate a fatal crash, it is important to remember that every case is unique, and that only an experienced legal team can properly investigate and determine if the death was wrongful or not. Consulting a lawyer after a fatal crash will ensure that all of your rights are protected and that you receive the justice you deserve for your loved one.

Damages in a Wrongful Death Claim

Recoverable damages in a wrongful death claim can include funeral expenses, wages until the deceased loved one’s age of retirement, compensation for the anxiety, loss of love and care the decedent provided and more. An injury lawyer can explain to you more thoroughly what types of compensation may be recovered in your case.
