Single-Vehicle Accident Injures Driver Near Ceres

Single-Vehicle Accident Injures Driver Near Ceres — A single-vehicle accident near Ceres left a man in his 20s with major injuries on October 3, 2018. The accident occurred at approximately 3:30 in the morning along Highway 99 in the vicinity of Service Road. A motorist of a 2000 Nissan Maxima was traveling northbound along the highway when he lost control of his vehicle, veered to the right, and left the roadway. The Nissan continued until it struck a chain link fence and overturned onto El Camino Avenue. The impact of the collision reportedly caused the driver to be ejected out of the Nissan and onto the roadway. Medical personnel responding to the scene transported the driver to an area hospital for treatment of serious injuries. An update regarding his condition has not yet been released by officials.

Common Causes of Single-Vehicle Accidents

Single vehicle accidents often occur due to motorist error. Some of the common reasons for these accidents include the following:

  • Distracted driving, or any task that diverts a motorist’s attention from the roadway, is responsible for a high number of solo-vehicle collisions. Common types of distracted driving include texting or talking on a cell phone, applying makeup, talking with passengers, and adjusting the radio.
  • Drunk or drugged driving is a common cause for motor vehicle accidents. Those who drive under the influence have impaired judgment, reduced reflexes, and other complications that prevent them from driving safely.
  • Medical Causes: Heart attacks, diabetes, and other medical conditions can cause a driver to suffer a condition or lose consciousness that leads to a collision.
  • Speeding is attributable to many auto accidents since it limits vehicle control and increases stopping distance. These factors can make it difficult to stop in time in an emergency.

Outside Factors for Single-Vehicle Accidents

Outside influences can sometimes cause single-vehicle accidents. When such accidents are caused by factors other than driver error, the injured party or surviving family members of the deceased may be able to recover compensation for their damages.

  • Aggressive drivers, particularly those who pass another car in an unsafe way, can force the motorist of the other vehicle off the road, causing a single-vehicle accident.
  • Road defects such as insufficient maintenance, missing signage, and potholes can all contribute to a single-vehicle accident. The government entity in charge of maintaining the road on which a crash occurred may be held responsible for any resultant damages.
  • Vehicle defects, including an accelerator, brakes, or steering wheel, can affect a driver’s ability to control a motor vehicle safely. When a faulty vehicle part or equipment causes an accident, an injured person or family of the decedent may file a claim against the manufacturer to recover for their losses.
