Shasta Area Accident Kills One

California Highway Patrol (CHP) reported that a fatal accident took place near Shasta Lake on Tuesday, July 23, 2019. The accident reportedly left one person with fatal injuries and did not involve any other individuals. The fatally injured driver’s identity has not yet been released by officials of the Shasta County Police Department pending notification of his or her family. My sincere condolences are sent to those suffering grief after losing their loved one in this accident.

Crash Details

Police reported that the accident happened at around 2:46 p.m. close to the Centimudi Boat Launch just north of the city of Shasta Lake. A white pickup truck had been traveling on Kennet Road when the driver apparently lost control of the vehicle. The truck reportedly drove off of the roadway and traveled down a nearby embankment. As the truck was sliding down the embankment, the driver’s side of the vehicle collided with some trees. The truck ultimately came to a stop about twenty feet away from a creek at the bottom of the embankment.

When emergency responders arrived at the accident scene, they discovered the driver had been ejected from the vehicle during the collision. Responders indicated that the man was found with severe trauma and could not be revived. He was tragically declared deceased at the collision scene.

Investigation

Single-vehicle collisions are common and can be caused by a variety of factors that often include things outside of the drivers’ control. These frequently include faulty or malfunctioning vehicle parts such as accelerators or steering systems as well as dangerous roads that have not been properly maintained by government entities.

Contacting an Attorney

In cases where a vehicle manufacturer, government entity, or other negligent party is responsible for an accident, the family members of fatally injured individuals are often able to file wrongful death claims in order to recover payments for their damages. While a loved one can never truly be replaced, recoverable damages cover a wide variety of losses, including lost income, funeral expenses, etc.

It’s important to note that the sooner a lawyer can begin investigating the vehicle and the scene of the accident, the more effectively they can make sure you recover the full amount of compensation you deserve. Additionally, in cases involving government entities, claims need to be filed within six months. To learn more about the process of filing a wrongful death claim, it’s a good idea to speak personally injury lawyer as soon as possible.
