Serious Trauma Sustained During Auto Accident in Clearlake

On Wednesday, December 16, 2020, at least one person sustained serious injuries as the result of an auto accident in Clearlake. According to the California Highway Patrol (CHP), this incident occurred during the day on a local highway in the Kelseyville area. Additionally, officers are still at work investigating the possible causes of this auto accident.

Crash Details

The crash happened at around 11:40 a.m. on State Route 29. A Toyota Prius was driving southbound on the highway when the driver, according to police, apparently lost control of the car. As a result, the Prius drifted into the northbound side of the highway, traveled over all lanes, and eventually drove off the eastern edge of the road. After leaving the highway, the Prius drove off a nearby embankment, careening about 30 feet down before finally coming to a stop.

Response

The accident was promptly reported to police, and officers arrived on-scene around twenty minutes after the incident occurred. Arriving emergency officials discovered four people inside of the Prius and determined that at least one of these individuals had been seriously injured, calling for an emergency ambulance in order to transport traumatized parties to a local hospital.

Investigation

So far, investigating CHP officers have not released a full report regarding what specific causal factors are suspected to have been involved in this traumatic crash. Collisions like this one may seem simple but often occur for complex reasons and may involve more than one cause. Furthermore, it’s common that car accidents happen due to factors that drivers have no ability to control. Such non-driver collision causes frequently include defective auto parts, issues with highway pavement, and much more.

Recovering from a Car Accident Injury

For many people, being injured in a car accident has far-reaching effects on their life. First of all, the recovery process for a serious injury can take a long time. Many car accident survivors spend years regaining their health, all the while suffering physical pain and mental stress related to their injuries.

Additionally, the necessary medical treatments for accident injuries can be extensive. It’s common for accident survivors to need invasive surgeries, meaning that not only do they need to pay for the procedures themselves but are also charged for hospital rooms and anesthesia. Furthermore, many people also need long-term medication use in addition to physical therapy in order to fully recover.

Altogether, medical care can be highly expensive, and paying for the treatment you need might be difficult. This is especially true for those who’ve been left unable to work because of their injuries.

Claiming Compensation

Fortunately, it’s possible for injured individuals to file personal injury claims in order to seek compensation for the economic and personal damages they’ve suffered during car accidents. The best way to find out what payments might be available to you is to reach out to a local Clearlake personal injury lawyer and ask for advice about your specific case.
