Seattle Resident Injured in Corning Pedestrian Accident

Seattle Resident Seriously Hurt in Corning Pedestrian Accident

On Saturday, March 20, 2021, a Seattle, WA resident suffered major injuries after being involved in a Corning pedestrian auto accident. The Corning Police Department (CPD) reports that the accident happened at night on a local highway and that it involved a single pedestrian and vehicle. The incident is still under CPD investigation.

Crash Information

According to CPD, a 76-year-old man from Orland was driving a 2019 Chevy Colorado northbound on Highway 99W at around 7:50 p.m. At the same time, the Seattle man was walking on the highway just south of the junction at South Avenue. For unknown reasons, the Chevy struck the pedestrian inside of the roadway.

Response

Responders were immediately rushed to the scene and discovered that the Seattle man was pinned underneath the vehicle and had suffered severe trauma. According to reports from CPD, emergency responders used pneumatic jacks and a tow truck to lift the wrecked car off the pedestrian.

Afterward, the man was placed on an ambulance and driven to the St. Elizabeth Community Hospital in Red Bluff to receive emergency treatment. Updates on his health condition remained unavailable at the time of reporting. Additionally, police indicated that the driver of the vehicle was not injured during the incident.

Investigation

While CPD continues to investigate the possible causes of this crash, officers haven’t stated any suspected factors. Frequently, pedestrian-involved auto accidents occur for multiple reasons. Furthermore, a number of common pedestrian collision causes are things that neither the driver nor pedestrian have the ability to control. Examples include inadequate protections for pedestrians on roadways, malfunctioning car parts, and more. If one or more of these kinds of factors contribute to a crash, third parties like government bodies or car part companies might share responsibility for damages.

Pedestrian Injuries

Pedestrians do not enjoy the same protections as vehicle drivers and can be seriously hurt even in minor accidents. Because pedestrians are very vulnerable, they frequently sustain injuries that change their lives and require a lot of medical treatment. In order to fully recover, injured pedestrians might need surgery in addition to long-term physical therapy and/or medication use. In severe cases, pedestrian accident survivors might be left with lifelong symptoms like limited mobility or chronic pain.

Sadly, these medical treatments are often prohibitively expensive, leaving pedestrian accident survivors worried that they won’t be able to afford proper medical care. Furthermore, your injuries might leave you unable to do your job, making it even more difficult to pay for the care you need.

Getting Help

If you are in this situation, you might be feeling overwhelmed. However, it is possible to call a Corning personal injury lawyer for help. An experienced attorney can help you understand what damages you can recover through a personal injury claim and, if you decide to move forward with your case, will be an indispensable part of obtaining the compensation that you deserve.
