Hit-and-Run Driver Flees Sacramento Traffic Accident on Walerga Road

On April 7, a Sacramento traffic accident occurred between two vehicles, and one driver fled the scene, leaving injuries behind. The collision happened around 5:20 p.m. at the Walerga Road intersection with Revelstok Drive. California Highway Patrol (CHP) officers reported the incident involved a Dodge Avenger and a Nissan Sentra.

Medics Called to Scene of Sacramento Traffic Accident

The occupants of the Sentra asked that medics with the Sacramento Fire Department be called to the scene for injuries. No additional information was given on whether they were treated at the accident site or taken to a hospital. The CHP traffic crash unit determines how the accident occurred and actively searches for the hit-and-run driver.

Holding a Hit-and-Run Driver Accountable in California

In cases where a driver in Sacramento flees the scene of a hit-and-run, they may be held liable for the incident upon identification. Being involved in a hit-and-run can lead to various penalties, including incarceration, monetary fines, the suspension of one’s driving license, and possibly misdemeanor or felony charges should there be injuries or fatalities involved. To establish the culpability of the driver in a Sacramento traffic accident, evidence may be collected from the following sources to locate the motorist and vehicle:

  • Traces of vehicle paint or metallic fragments tying the vehicle to the scene are used to identify the vehicle’s make and model
  • Accounts from eyewitnesses
  • Police reports that describe the fleeing vehicle
  • Surveillance video recordings that recorded the accident as it occurred
  • Analysis of tire marks linked to the vehicle
  • Body shops that received a vehicle for work with similar damage in the Sacramento traffic accident
  • Insights from forensic experts

Leveraging Expertise in Injury Claims for Compensation Recovery

Our legal team undertakes thorough investigations to track down the fleeing driver. Leveraging our extensive experience and resources, we have consistently secured evidence vital in prosecuting cases involving hit-and-run drivers.

Once the responsible driver is identified, our attorneys work diligently to ensure they are held accountable for their actions, employing the compiled evidence to engage with the liable party’s insurance provider toward a favorable resolution. Should the insurance company be uncooperative by either refusing to negotiate or rejecting the claim altogether, our legal team is prepared to escalate the matter to a civil court to ensure justice is served.

Options for Compensation Without the Driver’s Identification

Those suffering from injuries due to a traffic accident in which the responsible driver remains unidentified have the option to claim compensation through their uninsured and underinsured motorist coverage. This policy, while not mandatory, serves as a valuable safeguard for many residents in California. In cases where the victim lacks this coverage, a policy held by a family member might be utilizable for covering the injuries sustained.
