Minor Injuries Reported in Multiple-Vehicle Accident Near Off-Ramp

A multiple-vehicle accident occurred in Sacramento on April 9 that resulted in minor injuries. The crash happened around 1:47 p.m. along northbound Golden State Highway just south of the off-ramp for Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard. The three vehicles involved in the crash blocked the number one and two lanes. An investigation is underway by the California Highway Patrol (CHP) to determine why the accident happened.

Auto Accidents Can Result in Delayed Symptoms of a More Serious Injury

When it comes to car accidents, the aftermath of a serious collision can cause more than just physical damage. It is common for victims to experience psychological trauma, loss of income due to missed work and mounting medical bills. Unfortunately, many people are unaware that auto accident-related injuries may not always be immediately apparent.

Delayed Symptoms in a Car Accident and What They May Indicate

Delayed symptoms following a car accident may indicate a more serious injury. Keeping an eye out for those symptoms and seeking medical help can make a difference since early diagnosis and treatment can help avoid worse problems and complications. Common delayed symptoms following a multiple-vehicle accident include:

  • Headaches – These can be an indication of a concussion or traumatic brain injury, which can be serious and require extensive treatment.
  • Neck pain, stiffness and tingling sensations in the arms or hands – These often point to cervical strain or sprain, commonly called whiplash, and can indicate nerve damage.
  • Back pain – This can be a sign of spinal cord trauma, herniated discs and other serious injuries that can be life-changing.
  • Abdominal pain – This symptom is often indicative of internal organ damage, such as bruised or lacerated organs. It may also indicate that internal bleeding is present, which can be life-changing.
  • Emotional distress and difficulty sleeping – These symptoms can point to post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) and other psychological issues.
  • Fatigue – This can be a symptom of many disorders, including chronic pain.

Following a Multiple-Vehicle Accident

It is important to seek medical attention following a multiple-vehicle accident even if you don’t immediately feel any symptoms or pain. Oftentimes, the onset of delayed symptoms may take days or weeks after the accident occurs. If left untreated, these symptoms can worsen and lead to more serious medical conditions. It is also important for victims of auto accidents to document all their injuries and treatment claims in order to receive full compensation from the insurance company.

By being aware of the potential delayed symptoms associated with an auto accident, you can take steps toward protecting your health and legal rights. If you have been injured in an auto accident, contact a personal injury lawyer to discuss your legal options and how to receive the compensation that you deserve.
