Accident on Folsom Boulevard Involves Motorcycle and Van

A motorcycle crash involving a van resulted in minor injuries to the rider on February 7 in Sacramento. The collision was reported around 6:18 p.m. along Folsom Boulevard near Butterfield Way in the La Riviera area. The California Highway Patrol (CHP) accident report said that a large white van and motorcycle collided.

Rider Suffers Minor Injuries in Motorcycle Crash

Authorities found the rider lying in the center median along with his bike. A tow truck was called to remove the motorcycle. Medical personnel who arrived at the scene determined the rider had suffered minor injuries in the crash. The CHP is investigating to determine fault in the accident.

Delayed Symptoms Following a Traffic Collision

Because of the adrenaline surge through a human body when the person is involved in a motorcycle crash, it can mask injury symptoms. In addition, some injury symptoms are delayed and do not appear until later. This is why it is important to be checked out at an emergency room or by your family physician if you are involved in an accident. If symptoms such as increasing pain, heavy bruising, or others appear later, seeking further medical attention is a good idea.

Motorcyclists and the Road Dangers They Face

There are a number of dangers that motorcyclists face on the road, including negligent drivers and poorly maintained highways. Motorcycle accidents can cause serious injuries, even though riders try to stay as safe as possible. Among the dangers that a motorcycle rider can encounter on the road that can cause an accident, there are:

  • Motorcycle accidents can be caused by poorly maintained roadways. Lack of government maintenance can result in motorcycle accidents involving potholes, upheavals in the pavement, poor lighting and other problems. Usually, the government entity responsible for maintenance would be held liable.
  • A motorcycle crash is commonly caused by a driver making a turn in front of him or her. The driver must watch for oncoming vehicles in these situations. Due to the difficulty in judging a vehicle’s speed and distance, extra caution should be used to avoid a collision.
  • When distracted drivers are texting, talking on their cellphones, adjusting their radios, or doing anything else that diverts their attention from the road and traffic around them, they are at risk of causing an accident.
  • Motorcyclists are involved in many collisions due to a speeding motorist. A speeder’s longer stopping distance and the potential for losing control of their vehicle make them a danger to everyone who shares the road.
  • A motorcycle crash can be caused by an impaired driver. When a driver is intoxicated, it is difficult for them to stay in their lane, to judge which vehicles are close to them, and their reflexes are slowed, making it difficult for them to stop in time in an emergency.
