Florin Road Accident Results in Injuries

An intersection collision in Sacramento sent two people to the hospital on August 10. Two injuries were reported in the accident that occurred shortly after 2:00 p.m. at Florin Road and Fawn Way. The California Highway Patrol (CHP) incident report stated that ambulances were called to transport one of the patients to Kaiser South and the other to Methodist Hospital of Sacramento following the accident with undescribed injuries. The two vehicles involved in the collision were both towed from the scene, and an officer called to direct traffic. The intersection collision is under investigation to determine its cause.

Intersection Accidents Are Common and Dangerous

According to the latest statistics, more than half of all accidents now involve an intersection collision. Because vehicles are converging and moving through the same crossroads, and it’s complicated by the presence of pedestrians and bicyclists, unless everyone is cautious, a serious accident can occur. Unfortunately, negligent drivers who do not obey the rules of the road cause many intersection collisions every year. Some of the reasons they occur include:

  • A speeding driver cannot stop in time to avoid running into a vehicle waiting for the light to change.
  • Red-light runners are often the cause of an intersection collision. Impatience or trying to beat the yellow light are common causes. It can not only cause a T-bone accident with another vehicle but may impact a pedestrian or bicycle rider in the crosswalk.
  • Making a risky left turn is another cause of an intersection collision. All of us have been stopped at an intersection to make a right turn just to see that the vehicles to the left have pulled up so far there is no clear view of oncoming traffic.
  • Some drivers attempt to make a U-turn in areas where it is prohibited. This is a dangerous maneuver, especially since other motorists don’t expect it.
  • A driver can cause an intersection collision when they cross into the bicycle lane too early. Because drivers aren’t conditioned to watch out for bicyclists, serious accidents can occur.

Investigating the Cause of an Intersection Collision

Intersection accidents usually have to be investigated to gather evidence against the at-fault driver. This is because many drivers do not accept responsibility for their actions and will try to deny the claim. Our experienced investigators can uncover the evidence needed to prove that claim, including:

  • The investigators go to the accident site to take photos and collect evidence.
  • The report by the police is examined to ensure it is error-free because mistakes could affect a client’s compensation claim.
  • They perform accident reconstruction, which indicates how the intersection collision occurs and often points toward which driver was at fault.
  • The witnesses to the accident are interviewed for statements that corroborate how the crash happened. In some cases, a witness filmed the intersection collision on their cell phone as it happened.
  • Area surveillance cameras are examined to see if the accident was captured on film. This type of evidence is useful both in negotiating with the insurance company and in civil court.

Our injury attorneys use the gathered evidence to prepare a case that supports our client’s compensation claim
