Minor Injuries Occur in Sacramento Intersection Accident

A Sacramento intersection accident on May 3 involved three vehicles and caused at least one injury. The collision happened at Fulton and Marconi Avenues around 11:35 a.m., according to the California Highway Patrol. Authorities reported a work van, Toyota Prius, and a Toyota RAV4 were involved.

Three-Vehicle Crash Blocks Busy Intersection

According to the incident report, one of the vehicles was traveling along Fulton while another was coming from Marconi. The crash blocked the intersection, and one vehicle crashed into a concrete barrier at the gas station. A tow truck was called to remove at least one of the vehicles.

Investigation to Determine Fault in Intersection Accident

Although an injury was reported, no information was provided on whether that individual was taken to a hospital or treated at the scene. An investigation into the cause of the intersection crash is underway by CHP Traffic to discover how it happened.

Accidents Often Cause Delayed Injury Symptoms

Injuries in an accident may worsen as time goes on, which indicates more serious problems. Adrenaline is released during traffic collisions and mask pain, resulting in delayed symptoms. Even mild injuries in an accident should be checked.

Common Delayed Symptoms in an Accident

Most minor accident injury symptoms are just that. Injuries can progress to serious ones if delayed symptoms occur, such as:

  • Traumatic brain injuries: Headaches are often dismissed as minor injuries after an intersection accident. Headaches that worsen later could indicate a concussion or hemorrhage. Do not delay in seeking medical attention if you suspect a serious injury.
  • Back pain: Back pain may not seem serious at first. Worsening pain may indicate a herniated disc or other injury that becomes chronic or disabling. Caring for these traumas is important so they do not become permanent disabilities.
  • Cervical sprain or strain: Strains and sprains of the cervical spine often occur in accident injuries. Initially, these injuries may not appear to be symptomatic. If left untreated, these symptoms can worsen, restricting head movement and affecting shoulders and arms.
  • Abdominal trauma: People in the front seat can suffer abdominal pain when the dashboard or steering wheel strikes them in an intersection accident. Airbag deployment and seat belt tightening can also cause abdominal trauma. A severe condition such as internal bleeding can be indicated by heavy bruising and pain in the abdomen.
