Single-Vehicle Run-Off-Road Accident Reported on I-80

A run-off-road accident in North Sacramento occurred recently, which resulted in three major injuries. The collision occurred along I-80 close to Madison Avenue after a driver lost control of his vehicle, and it struck a sound wall at about 5:30 p.m. The male driver, as well as two females in the car were not using seat restraints when the collision occurred, according to the California Highway Patrol (CHP) report.

One Person Extricated in Run-Off-Road Accident

At least one of the people inside the vehicle had to be extricated by the firefighters with the Sacramento Metropolitan Fire District. It was reported that the three who were transported to a hospital suffered major injuries, but none of them were life-threatening. An investigation is being conducted by the CHP to find out why the driver lost control of his vehicle.

Reasons for a Run-Off Road Accident

An accident where the vehicle leaves the roadway can have many causes. Although most happen because the driver made a mistake, other factors can come into play that leads to an accident. For example, poor road maintenance can lead to a run-off-road accident. The government entity charged with maintenance may be held liable for accident injuries. Since the deadline to file a claim of this type is only six months, engaging an accident attorney might be a good idea.

A defect in an auto part can also lead to this type of accident, such as in the tires, braking system, or steering. Retaining the vehicle after an accident is recommended so that engineers can examine it for defects. If it turns out that a defective part caused the run-off-road accident, an auto product liability claim can be placed against the manufacturer, distributor and others.

Personal Injury Claims: What Can Be Recovered

Hospitalization and high medical costs can result from accidents that cause serious injuries. As well as medical expenses, the injured party may be forced to miss work or take a paid vacation or sick leave. Suffering an injury that was caused by someone else is hard enough. Among the damages that can be recovered in a personal injury lawsuit are:

  • It is possible to recover all medical expenses associated with the accident, including hospital stays, physician’s bills and physical therapies. A personal injury lawyer can assist you with gathering all these costs so that you are not burdened with the financial expense of recovering from your accident.
  • It is possible to recover wages lost due to the inability to work. A lower-paying job or permanent disability may result from your accident. These costs are included in your settlement.
  • You may experience pain and suffering not just physically, but emotionally and psychologically as well such as post-traumatic stress disorder. You may recover compensation for your physical and emotional trauma, and your treatment for PTSD can be recovered.
