Run to Feed the Hungry

Run to Feed the Hungry

I’m Ed Smith, a Sacramento personal injury lawyer. It’s that time again. Time to remember all of our many blessings. Time to share them with members of our community who maybe going through trying times. So, let’s dust off our running shoes and open our hearts again this holiday season to honor a good cause.

Thanksgiving Day Tradition

Countless runners are getting ready to take part in the annual Run to Feed the Hungry gathering. This is a huge Thanksgiving morning tradition for the city of Sacramento. It was back in 1994 that just under 800 participants showed up for the inaugural event. Last year, a record was made with 28,644 participants coming out to show their support. The event belongs to the Sacramento Food Bank & Family Services organization. All profits generously support and benefit the organization who serve many of our local families in need. The 10K race begins at 8:15 a.m. and the 5K (for us mini marathoners) begins at 9:00 a.m. on November 24, 2016. Remember: the event goes forward in sunshine, freezing temperatures and in the rain. There are no excuses – they run through it all – that’s just the way Sacramento rolls. We are so proud to be a part of Sacramento’s effort to end hunger in our community.

23rd Year of Running to Feed the Hungry

This time-honored tradition called Run to Feed the Hungry has gone from a cozy little event that drew a hundred people or so to thousands and thousands-strong Thanksgiving day event. This will be the 23rd year that amazing people have come out to participate in the run. In fact, our Sacramento Running to Feed the Hungry tradition has encouraged other similar traditions in other communities. This is how one good deed forms many others. Thank you to all that participate and smile while helping those in need.
