Roseville Pedestrian Fatality
I’m Ed Smith, a Roseville Pedestrian Accident Lawyer. A pedestrian was hit and killed on Interstate 80 in the City of Roseville on Thursday, March 31, 2016.
What Happened?
The California Highway Patrol (CHP) started receiving telephone reports of a pedestrian walking in the slow lane of travel on the eastbound side of Interstate 80. The calls were received about 5:30 a.m. and stated that the pedestrian was walking toward the center divider. About four or five minutes later more calls came in to the CHP. This time the callers indicated that the pedestrian had been struck by a vehicle.
Where Did Pedestrian Fatality Occur?
Video of the accident scene showed debris scattered in the westbound lanes of Interstate 80 near Douglas Road. The man was originally reported walking on the eastbound side of Interstate 80 near Douglas. Soon thereafter, the entire westbound direction of Interstate 80 had to be shut down. CHP officers were diverting motorists off at Eureka Road. Officers had to refrain the accessibility of motorists getting onto the interstate via the on ramp there in order to investigate and clean up the scene of this tragic pedestrian fatality.
Why was the Pedestrian Walking on the Interstate?
The CHP has not released any information as to why the male pedestrian was walking on the interstate. No other information was available at the time of this writing. The victim’s identity has not yet been released.
