Driver Suspected of DUI

The Dangers of Impaired Driving

Driving while impaired significantly reduces a driver’s ability to react to changing road conditions, maintain lane position, and safely control a vehicle. Alcohol and drugs can impair judgment, coordination, and reaction time, greatly increasing the risk of collisions that can injure drivers, passengers, pedestrians, and other road users.

Holding Impaired Drivers Accountable: Legal Support for DUI Accident Victims

Driving under the influence is a reckless choice that changes innocent lives in an instant. If you suffered severe physical trauma because of an impaired driver, the aftermath can feel incredibly unjust. Fortunately, the law provides a pathway to accountability. Victims of DUI-related crashes are often entitled to comprehensive compensation to cover the heavy financial and emotional toll of the accident.

DUI injury claims involve both criminal proceedings against the driver and civil claims for your damages. To ensure you navigate this complex process successfully, an experienced personal injury attorney will step in to protect your rights by:

  • Investigating the Collision: Reviewing police reports, breathalyzer or blood test results, and criminal court proceedings to build an undeniable case of liability.
  • Preserving Crucial Evidence: Securing scene photographs, surveillance footage from nearby businesses, and witness statements before they disappear.
  • Uncovering All Sources of Recovery: Checking for multi-layered insurance policies or determining if a commercial entity shares liability for over-serving the driver under California’s specific dram shop laws.
  • Pursuing Full Compensation: Aggressively seeking damages for immediate and future medical expenses, property repair or replacement, lost wages, diminished earning capacity, and pain and suffering. In some cases, we may also pursue punitive damages to punish the driver’s egregious behavior.
