OAKDALE, CA – A tragic crash near Oakdale on Thursday afternoon claimed the life of a local woman and left four others seriously hurt.
Around 2:56 p.m., the California Highway Patrol responded to reports of a collision on State Route 108/120 west of Kennedy Road. Authorities later shared that a 48-year-old woman from Oakdale, who had been driving a gray 2013 Subaru sedan, sadly passed away at the scene.
According to investigators, the Subaru was traveling westbound when it collided head-on with a 2019 Tesla sedan heading east. For reasons that are still unclear, officials say the Subaru traversed the solid double yellow lines and headed straight into the oncoming Tesla.
The Tesla was driven by a 28-year-old man from Ceres. His three passengers — a 24-year-old woman from Manteca, a 26-year-old man from Modesto, and a 28-year-old woman also from Ceres — were all seriously injured. Emergency responders transported them to Oak Valley Medical Center for treatment.
Authorities noted that everyone involved was wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash. It has not yet been determined whether drugs or alcohol played a role.
As the investigation continues, the community mourns the loss of one of its own and holds hope for the recovery of those who were injured.
