Redding Crash Sends Two Drivers to Hospital

I’m Ed Smith, a Redding personal injury lawyer. On Tuesday, July 17, 2018, a local car accident left two men injured. Responding officers said that both men involved in the crash were taken to a local hospital to receive medical care. However, no information about the specific injuries that either man received has been reported so far. The accident took place in Redding shortly after sunrise and reportedly involved only two vehicles, a pickup truck, and an SUV. Redding Police Department (RPD) says that they are still trying to understand what factors may have caused this collision to happen.

Crash Details

Reports from RPD officers stated that the accident took place just before 6:00 a.m. at the intersection of Preserve Boulevard and Airport Road. Witnesses of the crash reported seeing a white SUV make a left turn from Preserve onto Airport. As the SUV made the turn, it entered the path of an oncoming white-colored pickup truck. The two vehicles collided inside of the intersection. The force of the crash caused the truck to travel off of the road and strike a roadside guardrail. The SUV came to a stop within the intersection.

Photos from the scene of the collision show damage to the front end and passenger’s side of both the truck and the SUV. Emergency medical response staff dispatched to the accident site stated that both the driver of the truck and SUV received injuries and were treated on-site before being taken to nearby hospitals for care.

Investigation

RDP says that they are currently trying to determine which vehicle had the right of way at the time of the crash. In addition to this, RPD is investigating other common collision-causing factors. Factors that are likely to cause collisions like this one are various but include driving while fatigued, distraction by a mobile device, exceeding speed limits, right-of-way violations, and more.

What to Do After a Crash

Although car accidents are common and often cause injuries, most people don’t expect to be involved in one. Because of this, many people are taken by surprise and are unsure of what they should do after being hurt in a crash.

The number one priority after being injured in a collision is to seek medical attention immediately. Even if you don’t think you are seriously injured, accidents can often cause injuries that result in delayed symptoms such as internal trauma and traumatic brain injuries. Leaving these injuries untreated can be dangerous and, in many cases, can lead to serious or even fatal secondary injuries. Additionally, seeking immediate medical care can also be crucial to your personal injury case. Courts and insurance companies often doubt the seriousness of injuries when injured individuals don’t immediately seek medical care.
