Redding Accident Sends Woman to Hospital

A local woman was hospitalized after a vehicle accident that took place in Redding on Sunday, July 7, 2019. According to officials from the Redding Police Department (RPD), the crash involved two vehicles and resulted in the arrest of one involved driver. Only one individual was reported to have been injured as a result of this accident.

Crash Details

Police reported that the accident happened at about 3:00 p.m. at the corner of Shasta View Drive and Leonard Street on the east side of the city. A black Ford pickup truck had been driving on Shasta View when the driver apparently lost control of their vehicle. According to police, the pickup collided with a gray Porsche SUV. After the initial collision, the truck traveled off the road and crashed through the fence of a local home, coming to a rest in the residence’s backyard.

A resident of the home whose fence was destroyed told reporters that his girlfriend and dog had been in the backyard when the accident happened. The resident said that he went outside after his girlfriend yelled for help and saw that the truck had plowed through the fence as well as taken out a nearby utility pole. The resident noted that he saw smoke at the crash site and said the airbags of the truck were deployed.

Response

RPD sent out responders to the accident site immediately after they were contacted about the crash. When responders arrived, they found that the female driver of the SUV suffered serious injuries as a result of the accident. The injured party was placed in an ambulance and transported to a nearby hospital. Police say that the driver of the truck was arrested on DUI charges at the accident scene.
