Pregnant Woman Injured During Eureka Auto Accident

On Wednesday, August 19, 2020, a pregnant woman suffered injuries during a Eureka auto accident. California Highway Patrol (CHP) reported that the incident involved three separate vehicles and occurred in the late afternoon. According to reports, no other individuals suffered trauma as a result of the accident. Additionally, the cause of this crash is currently under investigation.

Crash Information

The accident occurred at about 4:05 p.m on Highway 101, specifically on the southbound side of the Eureka Slough Bridge. According to details from CHP, two vehicles had been stopped in severe traffic when a third vehicle approached from behind. The approaching vehicle failed to stop for the traffic and rear-ended another car. This collision pushed the second vehicle into the third.

Response

Directly after the crash occurred, the incident was reported to CHP via phone and officers were subsequently dispatched to the scene. As responders arrived, they discovered that a pregnant woman in one of the vehicles had suffered injuries and had her transported to a local hospital for treatment. Further details about the extent of her injuries have not been reported.

Traffic was reportedly blocked on the highway for around forty minutes while tow trucks worked to remove the wrecked cars from the bridge.

Investigation

As CHP continues to look into what could have caused this accident, investigators haven’t stated what factors, if any, they suspect were involved. However, police have indicated that driving under the influence of alcohol and/or drugs is not suspected as a factor. In many cases like this one, the collision is caused by multiple factors. Furthermore, many common auto accident factors are non-driver causes, which include things like malfunctioning vehicle products as well as hazardous or poorly designed roads.

Auto Accident Injuries and Pregnancy

Pregnant women have a greater risk of suffering from serious injuries during accidents, and, tragically, collisions also have the potential to injure their unborn children. A recent Reuters study showed that pregnant women were significantly more likely to need emergency room care than others. Because of the increased risks that pregnant women face, they often suffer higher economic damages as a result of car accidents.

Following auto accidents, pregnant women often require fetal monitoring as well as numerous doctor’s appointments and visits to specialists. Additionally, because of changes in their body, pregnant women may also suffer more pain as well as increased anxiety as a result of accident injuries. Calling an Injury Attorney

Thankfully, many people injured during accidents can obtain compensation to help them recover personally and financially. This is possible through personal injury claims, which seek to hold negligent parties responsible for the damages that people suffer during accidents. However, these cases are often complicated, and liable parties typically try to disclaim responsibility. For these reasons, it’s critical to have support from an experienced Eureka personal injury lawyer before moving forward with a claim.
