Pollock Pines Multiple-Vehicle Crash Results in Injuries

U.S. 50 Multiple-Vehicle Crash Occurs East of Placerville

A multiple-vehicle crash was reported on February 16 in the area of Pollock Pines east of Placerville. The collision happened around 9:28 a.m. along U.S. 50 east of Ice House Road, according to the California Highway Patrol (CHP), and officers reported that injuries had occurred. The collision involved three vehicles, and emergency responders with Cal Fire arrived to assess those who were injured.

Investigation Underway to Determine Cause of Multiple-Vehicle Crash

A tow had to be called for a Honda Civic that was involved in the crash. An accident investigation is being performed by the CHP to find out how the crash occurred.

How a Lawyer Determines Negligence in a Multiple-Vehicle Collision

When a lawyer is trying to determine negligence in a multiple-vehicle accident, they must consider all potential causes of the incident. They will use police reports, witness statements, photos of the scene and any other evidence that exists to reconstruct what happened. In addition, accident reconstruction is often performed, the area is checked for surveillance cameras that might have captured the multiple-vehicle crash and witnesses are interviewed.

Once the investigators have gathered this information, it will be analyzed carefully and a determination can be made as to which party or parties were responsible for the crash. Common factors that lawyers look for when analyzing a multiple-vehicle crash include:

  • The lawyer will check to see if any of the drivers involved violated traffic laws or acted recklessly.
  • Information will be gathered on whether any of the drivers were distracted by cell phones, electronic devices or other sources.
  • The cars will be checked to find out if any of the vehicles had defective parts or systems because if defects were found, an auto product liability claim might be placed against the manufacturer.
  • The police report will be checked to see if any of the drivers were under the influence of alcohol or drugs.
  • Other possible acts of negligence by the drivers will be examined to see if they failed to take proper care to avoid a collision.

Compiling the Evidence to Build a Case

After gathering and analyzing all relevant evidence, lawyers will then determine which driver(s) were negligent in causing the crash. In some cases, more than one driver may be found to have been negligent and thus liable for damages. The lawyers will also determine whether any of the other drivers had a duty of care towards the injured party, and whether that duty was breached.

In order to prove negligence in a multiple-vehicle crash, it must be established that the actions or omissions of one or more parties were the cause of the accident, and that those behaviors resulted in harm to another person. Once negligence has been established, a lawyer can proceed with discussing legal recourse for an injured client to recover compensation.

Ultimately, determining negligence in a multiple-vehicle collision requires careful consideration of all facts surrounding the crash. An experienced accident attorney can help those injured in such a collision to seek compensation for the losses they have suffered.
