Pittsburg Man Involved in Hit and Run Accident

A Pittsburg man fled the scene of a hit-and-run accident in Antioch on Monday, December 31, 2018. A police officer noticed the suspect, 23-year old Donald Jackson at the site of the crash, and attempted to stop him. Jackson, who allegedly refused to stop the vehicle, crashed the car into two additional vehicles nearby. A police dog was called over to help subdue him. Jackson was later taken to a medical center for injuries related to the accidents and from the K-9.

Antioch Hit and Run Details

The hit and run accident occurred shortly after 9:30 a.m. at West Tregallas Road and D Street. According to statements from authorities, an officer happened to be a witness to the collision. The officer attempted to stop Jackson in his tracks but ended up pursuing the man after he fled the scene. In the time when the officer was following Jackson’s vehicle, Jackson crashed his car into two more vehicles; one of which was a patrol car from the Antioch police department, while the other vehicle was being driven by a civilian. Police did not immediately disclose which roads the pursuit took place on. Eventually, a K-9 was used to subdue Jackson.

Jackson was later transferred via ambulance to a hospital for his injuries. He sustained injuries from the car crashes and his encounter with the K-9. The extent of his injuries has not been revealed. There were no other injuries reported, including the person driving the car that Jackson is suspected of hitting. Jackson is anticipated to be booked at the Martinez County Jail. No other updates were immediately available.
