Sunrise Boulevard Traffic Accident Involves Pedestrian

A major pedestrian injury occurred from a motor vehicle collision in Fair Oaks on February 16. The initial accident involved a Toyota Camry, Toyota Tundra, and a blue sedan, according to the police report by the California Highway Patrol (CHP) and ended up involving an individual who was walking by at the time. The collision occurred around 7:41 in the evening at the intersection of Sunrise Boulevard and Wildridge Drive.

Pedestrian Major Injury Involves Three-Vehicle Crash

The Fair Oaks crash left the three vehicles blocking both north and southbound lanes along Sunrise Boulevard as one of the vehicles went over the center divider. Witnesses to the accident called for medical help when they realized the pedestrian had been struck. A physician at the scene determined the walker had suffered a serious injury, and the patient was transported to a nearby hospital. The CHP is investigating the crash to find out how it happened.

Causes of a Pedestrian Major Injury

Pedestrians are vulnerable to injuries, and many are caused each year by a traffic collision. Motorist error is a big contributor to a pedestrian injury. Many of these accidents occur because the motorist is not making it a point to be aware of the pedestrians who share the roadways and intersections. Some of the reasons the accidents occur include:

  • A speeding driver cannot stop at a crosswalk in time to prevent striking a pedestrian.
  • A driver runs a red light or stop sign either accidentally or intentionally. This is a common cause of a pedestrian major injury.
  • A motorist makes a right turn without looking carefully for pedestrians. Because motorists are busy concentrating on other vehicles, they often neglect to look for people on foot, which can lead to a pedestrian major injury accident.
  • The driver makes a U-turn and strikes a pedestrian who is crossing the street.
  • A left-turning motorist neglects to see someone crossing the street.
  • Some pedestrians cross in the middle of the street, which is illegal, but the motorist should still look out and stop for them.

Investigation of a Pedestrian Accident

In the above accident, it is unknown whether the pedestrian who was injured was standing on the curb or crossing the street when the three vehicles collided, causing injury to the walker. In order to obtain compensation for medical bills, lost wages, and other losses, it must be proven who was at fault for the injury. Our investigators work hard to determine fault so that our clients can get the compensation they deserve.

They do this by talking to witnesses, obtaining videos of the accident from surveillance cameras and nearby businesses, and reviewing police reports for mistakes. They also perform accident reconstruction techniques to determine liability.

This information is handed over to our injury attorneys, who use it when constructing a strong case for our client.
