A pedestrian killed on Greenback Lane in Orangevale was fatally struck by two vehicles Sunday evening, February 22, 2026. According to the California Highway Patrol East Sacramento office, the crash occurred around 8:30 p.m. on eastbound Greenback Lane, just west of Main Avenue.

Authorities reported that the pedestrian, a man believed to be in his late 40s to mid-50s, was crossing the roadway outside of a designated crosswalk when he was struck by an oncoming vehicle. A second vehicle then struck the pedestrian moments later. Emergency responders arrived at the scene, but the man was pronounced deceased at approximately 8:44 p.m.

Both drivers remained at the scene and cooperated fully with investigators. Officials stated that neither speed nor alcohol or drug impairment were factors for the drivers. It remains unclear whether impairment may have contributed to the pedestrian’s actions. The incident remains under investigation.
