Pedestrian Killed in Yuba Crash

Authorities of Yuba-Sutter California Highway Patrol (CHP) reported that a fatal collision took place in Yuba County on Thursday, February 21, 2019. The incident happened shortly after sunrise on a rural roadway to the east of Yuba City close to the community of Linda. Officers have stated that a pedestrian was fatally injured during the incident. The pedestrian has not yet been identified by officials. The accident remains under investigation by CHP investigators. I would like to send my sympathy to those who’ve lost a loved one because of this terrible collision.

Crash Information

Police say that a pedestrian had been walking along Hammonton Smartsville road close to the intersection of Lowe Avenue at about 7:30 a.m. At the same time, a driver had been heading south on Lowe Avenue. The driver reportedly stopped at the Hammonton Smartsville Road intersection before attempting to make a left turn. While performing the turn, the driver struck the pedestrian inside of the intersection.

The driver pulled over and called CHP for emergency help. When responders arrived at the crash site, they found the pedestrian had suffered critical trauma during the accident. The walker was placed on an ambulance and rushed to the Rideout Emergency Room to receive care. Tragically, the woman did not survive the ambulance ride and was officially declared deceased on arrival at the hospital. Neither the driver nor any of the four passengers in the vehicle suffered any injuries.

Investigation

As an investigation into the crash continues, officers have not reported any suspected collision factors. According to reports, the driver told police that they did not see the pedestrian while performing the turn. Pedestrian collisions are dangerous and can be caused by factors like auto product defects, inclement weather, reckless driving, and more.

Calling An Attorney

After a fatal accident, it can be difficult to know what to do. Families are often overcome with deep feelings of grief and can find it hard to focus on daily tasks. Dealing with grief can take time, but it is essential to get in touch with a lawyer as soon as you can. Liable parties typically begin defending themselves from financial responsibility right away and having a lawyer early on can be vital to your case.

Many people know that they should get help from an attorney, but are unsure of how to find a lawyer they can trust to handle their case.
