Orangevale Injury Crash Occurs With Sedan at Intersection

An Orangevale injury crash on October 24 caused the hospitalization of a pedestrian when they were struck by a sedan. The collision occurred around 8:22 a.m. at the intersection of Pershing and Walnut Avenues. The pedestrian was struck at the intersection by a Ford Escape and was found by California Highway Patrol (CHP) officers lying in the roadway.

Paramedics were called to the accident site and transported the injured pedestrian to Mercy San Juan Medical Center for treatment. The vehicle was left drivable. Information was not provided on possible injuries to the driver. The CHP traffic accident division is conducting an investigation into the cause of the crash.

Intersection Accidents and Pedestrians

Pedestrians are in particular danger of an Orangevale injury crash at intersections. Because vehicles, walkers and bicyclists all converge at these locations, it can be difficult for a pedestrian to ensure their safety when crossing the street. In addition to driver negligence, which can lead to an accident involving a pedestrian, the following may cause or contribute to an injury:

  • A malfunctioning walk signal or traffic light can cause an injury accident involving a pedestrian. So can overgrown foliage, mistimed lights, and other intersection problems. If a municipal or government entity is the cause of an injury accident, the injured person may claim damages because of it. However, the time to file this type of claim is limited to six months, so getting help from an accident attorney is advisable.
  • A defective auto part, such as the brakes or tires, can cause an Orangevale injury crash that involves someone on foot. When the brakes fail, or a tire blowout occurs due to tread separation, it can cause the driver to lose control of the vehicle. Retaining the vehicle is important in any accident, so it can be examined for defective parts. When they are found to have contributed to or caused the accident, an auto product liability claim may be placed to recover damages.

How an Injury Lawyer Can Help You With Your Pedestrian Injury Accident

To recover compensation when you’ve suffered an accident as a pedestrian, it must be proved that the motorist or other entity was responsible and acted in a negligent manner. An accident attorney can investigate your case to see if you can possibly file a claim. Next, the lawyer will use investigators to collect the evidence to support that claim.

Evidence-gathering techniques include accident reconstruction, examining nearby surveillance cameras, talking to witnesses and checking the police report for accuracy. Our lawyers use this information to construct a strong case in support of our client’s claim.

Recoverable Damages

Damages that are recoverable in a pedestrian injury accident include all the medical costs related to the accident. In addition, lost wages may be claimed if the injured person cannot work, has to take a lower-paying position or becomes disabled. Pain and suffering compensation can be recovered with an injury lawyer’s help, including physical and emotional suffering.
