South Sacramento Accident Results in Pedestrian Fatality
A pedestrian fatality occurred in South Sacramento on February 25 when an adult male was struck by a vehicle. The Sacramento Police Department said initially that the man was in critical condition following the accident around 3:15 p.m. in the vicinity of Valley Hi Drive at Mack Road. The police department later reported that the man had died. The driver involved in the incident remained at the accident scene and was being cooperative with the police in the investigation. Sacramento Police said neither drugs nor alcohol appeared to be factors. Mack Road was reopened to traffic shortly before 10:00 in the evening. The pedestrian was identified as Donald Nelson, a Sacramento resident, by the coroner’s office.

- Offer to do needed tasks around the home and shop for groceries or other needed items. Initially, many bereaved will not take you up on your offer. Try being more direct and ask for a grocery list or if they need prescriptions picked up at the pharmacy.
- Ask if you can pick up the children at school, sit with an elderly parent or other daily tasks that may be difficult for them.
- Going to the funeral parlor is often difficult. Ask if you can accompany the bereaved when they go.
