The collision occurred shortly before 2:00 p.m. on the westbound side of Business 80 near Arden Way. Sacramento Fire Department crews responded to assist the California Highway Patrol (CHP), which is leading the investigation. Authorities have not yet determined why the individual was on the freeway at the time of the accident. Traffic cameras showed congestion in the area into the late afternoon. The incident remains under active investigation.
