Pedestrian Accident Kills Manteca Woman

I’m Ed Smith, a Manteca personal injury lawyer lawyer. A woman was walking in Manteca during the midnight hour of Monday, June 12, 2017. The woman was hit by an oncoming car. Sadly, the pedestrian accident fatally injured the woman.

What Happened?

A witness contacted the California Highway Patrol (CHP) to report a pedestrian standing in the center divider along the southbound lanes of Highway 99 in Manteca. By the time authorities responded, it was already too late.

A 2008 Mazda sedan was traveling along Highway 99 at approximately 12:07 am. The driver of the Mazda, identified as a 77-year-old Riverbank man, was unable to avoid a pedestrian in the roadway and collided with the victim. Unfortunately, the impact of the collision caused the victim to succumb to their injuries at the scene. The San Joaquin Coroner’s Office later identified the victim as 23-year-old Starla Beltran, of Manteca.

Our deepest sympathies are with the loved ones of the young woman that passed away in this tragic pedestrian accident.

What Caused the Pedestrian Accident?

It is still too soon to determine what caused the pedestrian accident. The CHP generally conducts an investigation and processes a Traffic Collision Report within two weeks. The report typically lists the at-fault party. Sometimes though, a traffic report may contain errors. This may leave the loved ones of those who lost a family member with several unanswered questions. It is extremely important to contact an experienced personal injury attorney who can promptly investigate the scene of the accident and study the sequence of events that led up to the accident. A good attorney will pinpoint cause and assign fault to those who are found liable for a resulting death. For more information, contact an injury attorney at once.

Young Life Forever Remembered

Starla Beltran was loved by her family members for her nice, friendly and happy personality. Beltran was noted for her honesty by headlines for returning a wallet with $4,000. Her act of kindness was rewarded with a free car from a local car dealership in Manteca, granted by Susan Eggman, the state Assemblywoman.

The loved ones of Beltran have set up a GoFundMe account to cover the expenses of her funeral. Beltran leaves behind a 3-year-old child and a family that will forever keep her memory close to their hearts.
