Pedestrian Accident Fatally Injures Patterson Man Near Stanislaus County

Pedestrian Accident Fatally Injures Patterson Man

I’m Ed Smith, a Modesto personal injury lawyer. A man was taking an evening walk in Patterson on Sunday, December 10, 2017. Sadly, he was struck and killed by a car.

Our thoughts and prayers are with the friends and family of Mr. Rios who passed away in this tragic accident.

What Happened?

Ricardo Rios, a 53-year-old man of Patterson, was walking along South Second Street in the vicinity of Highway 33 at approximately 5:20 pm. Rios was attempting to walk across from a park to a food truck when he was struck by an oncoming vehicle. The driver of that vehicle remained at the scene until emergency responders arrived.

Patterson Man Suffers Fatal Injuries

Medical personnel was called to the scene of the pedestrian accident. A medical evaluation was conducted on the injured pedestrian upon arrival. Unfortunately, the man was pronounced deceased at the scene.

Accident Investigation

An investigation is underway by the Stanislaus County Sheriff’s Department Major Accident Investigation Team. Officials do not suspect alcohol nor drugs as factors in the collision. The driver of the vehicle involved in the accident claimed that they did not see the Patterson man and, unfortunately, struck him. An exact cause of the accident has not yet been decided due to pending investigation.

Pedestrians and Car Accidents

When a pedestrian has been involved in an accident with a motor vehicle, the consequences may be traumatic, catastrophic or even fatal. Pedestrians are particularly vulnerable against moving vehicles due to their lack of protection. Motorists are obligated to be aware of their surroundings and proceed with caution as a pedestrian may enter the roadway for any given reason. A Traffic Collision Report is usually conducted by officials at the scene of a pedestrian accident. Sometimes, traffic reports may contain error or be inconclusive in detail relating to fault. It is crucial to contact an experienced Modesto wrongful death lawyer to investigate further into the matter and bring closure to those affected by such unforeseen tragedies.
