Passenger in Fatal Fairfield Highway Crash Identified
On Thursday, November 14, 2019, the Solano County Sheriff’s Office identified the decedent of a fatal Fairfield highway crash that took place a day earlier. The decedent was identified as 26-year-old Tennessee resident Jerrol Dodd. In addition to Dodd, two other people were injured during the accident with major and minor injuries, respectively. California Highway Patrol (CHP) is reportedly handling the investigation into possible causal factors of the crash.
Crash Details
The accident happened on Interstate Highway 680 at about 6:30 p.m. A woman from Pennsylvania had been stopped on the side of a northbound off-ramp when she tried to re-enter the roadway. As she was entering, the BMW was broadsided by a Honda sedan being driven by a Fairfield woman, causing major damage to the SUV’s passenger side.
Emergency response officials were immediately dispatched to the collision scene after CHP received a notification about the crash. When they arrived, emergency response officials discovered that Dodd had been critically injured as a result of the collision. According to medical personnel, Dodd tragically passed away at the collision scene. The driver of the BMW was reportedly found with minor injuries and was taken to the North Bay Medical Center. The Honda driver suffered moderate trauma and was transported to the Kaiser Hospital in Vallejo to receive care.
Investigation
While CHP is investigating this accident, no suspected factors have been mentioned in reports. Police have indicated that drugs and alcohol are not suspected to have been involved.
