A hit-and-run in Oroville on March 7 caused injuries to a female pedestrian at a local intersection. The accident occurred around 8:28 a.m. at the intersection of Autrey and Las Plumas avenues. The incident report issued by the California Highway Patrol (CHP) said that a Toyota Matrix was suspected as the vehicle the driver fled in.

State Police Seeking Hit-and-Run Driver

Butte County Fire Department first responders arrived at the scene to assess injuries to the pedestrian. No report was issued on whether she received treatment at the accident scene or was transported to a nearby hospital. The CHP is investigating the hit-and-run to determine how it occurred and searching for the fleeing driver.

Pedestrian Accident Injuries at Intersections Caused by Negligent Drivers

Pedestrian accident injuries at intersections can be caused by negligent drivers failing to observe the right of way, disregarding traffic signs and signals, or behaving in a careless manner. In some cases, pedestrians may suffer catastrophic injuries due to the negligence of a driver who failed to yield or take proper precautions while driving. Common intersection-related pedestrian accident injuries include traumatic brain injuries, lacerations, broken bones and spinal cord damage.

Pedestrians are generally more vulnerable to injury in intersections due to the speed at which cars travel through these areas. Additionally, drivers may be unaware of pedestrians crossing in front of them or walking on sidewalks near the intersection. For these reasons, it is important for pedestrians to exercise caution when crossing intersections and obey traffic signals and signs.

How an Injury Lawyer Searches for a Hit-and-Run Driver

In the case of a hit-and-run accident, an experienced injury lawyer will search for the driver responsible for causing the accident. This could include collecting evidence from witnesses and bystanders, researching public records, interviewing police officers and reviewing surveillance footage. In addition to helping identify the driver, a lawyer may also be able to help an injured client seek compensation for their injuries and losses.

Using Uninsured/Underinsured Insurance to Pay For your Accident Injuries

Suppose a negligent driver’s insurance company fails to compensate for your accident-related injuries adequately.
