Oregon Woman Hurt in Crescent City Car Crash

Oregon Woman Injured in Crescent City Car Crash

California Highway Patrol (CHP) stated that an Oregon Woman suffered serious injuries during a car crash that took place in Crescent City on Monday, April 27, 2020. The collision involved one vehicle and happened on a highway during the early evening. The injured woman has been identified as a 46-year-old resident of Williams, Oregon. Updates on her medical condition have not yet been made available.

Crash Information

The crash happened at about 5:20 p.m. CHP said that the Oregon woman had been driving a 1998 Chevy Silverado southbound on Highway 199. The pickup truck was around one mile south of the Walker Road intersection when, for unknown reasons, it started to drift to the right.

The truck eventually drifted off-road and onto the western highway shoulder. After driving off-road, the car traveled down a steep hillside and finally crashed into a nearby tree. CHP indicated that the force of the impact with the tree caused the driver to be ejected from her vehicle through a window.

Response

According to reports, multiple agencies including Del Norte Search and Rescue, California Department of Fish and Wildlife, Del Norte Ambulance, Crescent City Fire Protection District, and the U.S. National Park Service assisted with accident response. When emergency responders reached the scene of the accident, they discovered that the woman had suffered severe trauma. Officers called for a helicopter ambulance and had her flown to the Mercy Medical Center in Redding to receive emergency medical treatment. No other people suffered any injuries as a result of the collision.

Investigation

As Crescent City CHP officers investigate what may have caused this crash, no likely causes have been mentioned in official reports. Police have stated that driver intoxication is not a suspected factor.

Single-vehicle highway accidents are a very common type of crash and can be caused by many different factors. In many cases, accident factors are things that lie outside of driver control, such as defective car parts or hazards in the road.

Calling an Attorney

Being injured during a car accident has the potential to change your life. Many crash survivors need multiple medical procedures and also have to participate in physical therapy sessions as well as take long-term medications. Furthermore, accident injuries often make it difficult or impossible to work, which can mean losing your source of income.

Altogether, these concerns can cause crash survivors to feel helpless. However, it’s possible to get financial help by contacting a Crescent City personal injury lawyer and filing a personal injury claim against insurance companies and/or negligent parties. It’s important to know that these cases are complicated and that liable parties often attempt to disclaim their responsibility. Having an experienced lawyer on your side is the best way to make sure you can claim the compensation you deserve.
