One Person Hospitalized After Redding Car Crash

On Saturday, February 20, 2021, one person was sent to the hospital after being involved in a Redding car crash. According to the Redding Police Department (RPD), the accident happened in west Redding and involved one SUV. The injured party was not expected to have suffered life-threatening injuries, and the collision is still under official investigation by RPD.

Crash Details

The accident happened at around 8:49 p.m. on Church Hill Road. According to officials, a black SUV of unreported make and model was driving on Church Hill when it lost traction and slid off-road. After leaving the road, the car rolled into a nearby culvert. Photos of the vehicle show it on its passenger side with significant damage.

Response

RPD was contacted regarding the accident shortly after it happened, and when responders reached the scene, they discovered that two people and a dog were trapped inside the wrecked SUV. Personnel from the West Redding Volunteer Fire Department reported that it took 30 minutes using special machinery to perform an emergency extrication.

After the individuals and dog were removed from the SUV, medical responders determined that the driver was injured. The injured party was driven by ambulance to the Danbury Hospital for treatment. The passenger reportedly refused to be hospitalized, and the dog did not suffer any injuries.

Investigation

As RPD officials investigate this crash, police have stated that icy, snowy roadway conditions likely played a role in this accident. No further suspected factors have been reported. Frequently, collisions such as this one involve one or more factors that can’t be controlled by the driver, possibly including defective car parts or dangerously designed or poorly maintained roads.

Accident Injuries Can Develop Over Time

After being involved in a car accident, your body is likely full of adrenaline, a hormone that blocks pain and can make it difficult to ascertain the extent of your trauma. In many cases, people even walk away from accidents only to end up hospitalized with serious injuries hours later. Furthermore, certain types of injuries can develop over time and may take a period of months to fully develop symptoms. Examples include brain injuries and spinal trauma. If these injuries are not treated promptly, they are liable to lead to dangerous complications or secondary injuries.

Because of these issues, it’s important that car accident survivors receive medical screening as soon as possible after accidents. Furthermore, being able to prove that you suffered injuries after a crash is critical to personal injury cases, and it may weaken your case if you don’t seek medical care.

Calling an Attorney

After accidents, injured individuals are often able to obtain payments to cover their medical bills and other damages like wrecked vehicles and/or lost income. However, insurance companies and at-fault parties frequently try to avoid paying crash survivors the full amount of compensation that they deserve. This is why it’s always a good idea to reach out to a Redding car accident lawyer directly after being involved in an accident.
