One Person Dies Following Chico Pedestrian Collision

One Person Killed in Chico Pedestrian Collision

On Friday, September 11, 2020, one person tragically sustained fatal trauma as the result of a Chico pedestrian collision. According to details from the Chico Police Department (CPD), the crash happened on a local road early on in the night and involved a single vehicle in addition to the pedestrian. The Butte County Sheriff’s Department is currently withholding the decedent’s identity. An investigation into the incident is ongoing.

Crash Information

CPD reported that the crash occurred at approximately 9:15 p.m. at the intersection of La Linda Lane and Nord Avenue. Details about the specific circumstances of the crash have not yet been reported. However, officers reported that when medical responders reached the scene of the accident, they found that the pedestrian was unresponsive and had sustained critical injuries.

The pedestrian was placed on an ambulance and rushed to a local hospital. Doctors attempted to stabilize the pedestrian. However, the individual sadly passed away while in hospital custody.

CPD has reported that their Major Accident Investigation Team will be handling the investigation into this collision. While investigators attempt to determine what caused the crash, no suspected factors have been mentioned. Often, collisions like this one involve one or more factors that neither pedestrians nor drivers can control. Such factors include common accident causes like dangerously designed roads or defective auto parts.

Additionally, fatal collisions present a very difficult challenge to investigators. Because police aren’t able to interview decedents about what happened, they may not be able to fully understand the crash. Unfortunately, this can lead to officers overlooking evidence that could be critical to a wrongful death case. Because of this, it is important to get in touch with a lawyer who can perform their own accident investigation.

Wrongful Death Damages

The pain of losing someone in a car accident can be immense and many people affected by fatal accidents need to take a significant amount of time away from their responsibilities in order to process their grief. By taking time, being patient, and seeking support from loved ones, many people are able to cope with their feelings. However, the financial pressure associated with fatal collisions can make it hard or even impossible for people to focus on emotional healing.

Our loved ones often provide us with valuable services or contribute income to the household. Without the decedent’s support, many people are unsure of how they will be able to move forward with their lives.

Calling an Attorney

While the issues families face after fatal crashes are serious, it is possible to get help. Through filing a wrongful death claim, it’s often possible to obtain compensation for your economic and personal losses. However, wrongful death cases can be complicated and liable parties may attempt to disclaim responsibility.

To make sure your family receives the compensation that they deserve, it’s very important to call a Chico wrongful death attorney who can help you. If you would like to learn more about finding a trustworthy attorney for your wrongful death case, watch this video:
