One Injured During Second Napa Motorcycle Crash in Two Days

On Saturday, August 8, 2020, one person suffered major injuries during a Napa motorcycle crash. According to the California Highway Patrol (CHP), the accident involved two vehicles and left a 24-year-old Davis resident with severe trauma. This accident was the second major motorcycle collision in Napa over the weekend after a collision on Friday that left a 31-year-old man with major injuries.

Crash Information

The accident happened at around 11:30 a.m. on Highway 121 to the south of the junction located at Highway 128. The Davis man was driving a motorcycle northbound on Highway 121 when he reportedly attempted to pass another vehicle. As he was attempting to pass, the motorcyclists collided head-on with a southbound Mercedes driven by a 58-year-old Napa woman. The Mercedes driver reportedly tried to avoid the crash but was unable to veer away in time.

According to CHP reports, the motorcyclist was thrown from his vehicle and landed on the roadway on his back. When paramedics arrived at the accident site, they determined that the motorcyclist was severely injured and had him driven to the Kaiser Hospital in Vacaville for treatment. The Mercedes driver was reportedly uninjured during the incident.

Investigation

Police are still investigating the accident in order to find out what factors could have caused it to happen. Collisions like this one are often more complicated than they appear and can involve multiple factors, many of which aren’t under driver control. Such non-motorist accident factors frequently include defective roads and/or malfunctioning vehicle parts.

Motorcycle Accidents in Napa

Motorcycle accidents happen often in Napa County. According to information reported by local traffic enforcement agencies, there were 8,651 traumatic crashes in the county between 2008 and 2020. Eight hundred and thirty of these accidents (just under ten percent) involved a motorcycle. Furthermore, accidents involving motorcycles in Napa County had a much higher rate of both severe and fatal injuries than collisions overall. This shows that people involved in motorcycle accidents were significantly more likely to suffer major trauma.

Getting Help

Being in a motorcycle accident can put people in a very difficult situation. Not only do motorcycle collision survivors face a painful and mentally stressful process of recovery, but paying for the necessary medical care can be hard, especially for people who’ve been left unable to do their job. For many crash survivors, these issues can feel totally overwhelming.

However, it is possible to reach out for help. By working alongside a Napa motorcycle accident attorney, many motorcycle collision survivors are able to file a personal injury claim and obtain payments for their damages. Often, this means that injured parties are able to obtain payments to cover their medical costs as well as other damages like lost earnings, damaged property, and more.
