One Hurt in Oakdale Rollover

An Oakdale rollover sent one person to the hospital on Wednesday, April 27, 2020. Reports from the California Highway Patrol (CHP) indicated that only one car was involved in the accident and that a medical helicopter was called to the collision scene. No other injuries were reported, and this collision remains under investigation.

Crash Details

The crash happened at about 10:00 p.m. on Highway 108 near the exit for Lover’s Leap. Officers have not yet released information regarding the events leading up to the crash. However, a red sedan traveled off-road and overturned as a result, eventually coming to a rest on its roof near a small gate.

Emergency response officials at the accident scene discovered that the vehicle driver was trapped inside the wreckage. Respondents performed an emergency extrication before placing the driver on a medical helicopter and transporting them to a Modesto hospital.

Investigation of Oakdale Rollover

As CHP investigators continue looking into the crash, no likely causes have been reported at this point. Solo-vehicle crashes may only involve one car, but they can still be quite complicated and are often caused by more than one factor. Many common solo-vehicle crash factors aren’t things drivers are able to control, like issues with vehicle parts or dangerous roadway hazards.

Rollover Accidents

When a vehicle rolls over, it is very likely to cause passengers major injuries. Government data indicates that only about two percent of accidents are rollovers, but that vehicles overturn in nearly ten percent of crashes. This illustrates how dangerous rollovers can be. One of the most important reasons that this is the case is weak vehicle roofs.

If a car’s roof isn’t designed properly or is constructed out of weak material, it is likely to crumple as the vehicle rolls. This can leave people inside of the vehicle with “roof crush injuries,” which are often very serious. In these incidents, vehicle companies are commonly considered at-fault and can be held liable for collision damages. Because of this, it’s important to preserve your wrecked vehicle as evidence.
