Chico Area Trucking Crash Hospitalizes One

On Sunday, January 5, 2020, a Chico area trucking crash put one person in the hospital. California Highway Patrol (CHP) reported that this crash happened in a rural area of Butte County south of Chico. Police stated that the crash involved both a passenger vehicle and a large commercial truck. Updates on the medical condition of the injured party have not been provided, and CHP continues to investigate the accident.

Officers stated that the crash took place at around 7:00 a.m. on Highway 99 near the W Evans Reimer Road intersection. While reports regarding the specific details of the accident are unavailable, photos taken at the crash scene show major damage to the front end of the involved big-rig.

Trucking Accidents and Liability

If you regularly use area freeways, you probably spend plenty of time driving around large trucks. These vehicles are massive and typically weigh tens of thousands of pounds. This means that they carry a huge amount of momentum into any accident they are involved in, meaning that crashes involving these large vehicles can easily lead to extreme damage and severe injuries.

These vehicles are almost always owned by a large holding company that owns an entire fleet of similar trucks. Because accidents are always a liability, these companies are usually ready to take action right away in order to make sure that they disclaim financial responsibility for any damages caused during the crash.

Because of this, successfully claiming compensation in a trucking crash can be more difficult than with collisions only involving passenger vehicles. In order to make sure that you and your loved ones receive the compensation you need to cover your damages, it’s important to reach out to an experienced personal injury attorney.

Personal Injury Damages

Crash survivors are often left in a very difficult situation after they’ve been hurt in a crash. Not only is suffering an injury painful and mentally stressful, but injuries can also be very expensive. Many crash survivors have to undergo multiple medical procedures as well as participate in extensive physical therapy sessions. On top of this, being injured can leave survivors unable to continue working either temporarily or permanently. Even further, being injured may also mean that you need to pay for expensive accessibility modifications to your home.

Altogether, these concerns are likely to leave people wondering how they will be able to keep living their lives. However, many survivors are able to claim payments for all of these losses through filing a personal injury claim against negligent parties, including trucking companies, insurers, and more.

If you are unsure about whether or not you can file an injury claim, it’s important to get advice from an attorney. To learn more about working with a Chico personal injury lawyer on your trucking accident case, check out this helpful video:
