One Killed Yuba County Pedestrian Accident

On Saturday, March 21, 2020, a woman tragically lost her life in a Yuba County pedestrian accident. Officials stated that the collision occurred on a local roadway shortly after sunset and involved one vehicle as well as a person pushing a motorcycle on foot. The fatally injured pedestrian has been identified as a 19-year-old woman. However, her name is currently being withheld by county authorities. No other people sustained trauma during the crash.

Collision Details

California Highway Patrol (CHP) reported that the accident happened at about 8:10 p.m. on Loma Rica Road near Highway 20 in rural Yuba County. The 19-year-old woman was reportedly pushing a 2005 Honda south on Loma Rica Road. According to CHP, a 20-year-old man driving a 2011 Chrysler, allegedly at high speeds, approached the pedestrian from behind. The Chrysler struck the woman as well as her motorcycle.

Emergency responders reaching the crash scene found that the pedestrian had been critically injured during the accident. Sadly, she lost her life before she could be transported to a trauma center.

Investigation

CHP is actively attempting to determine what factors were involved in the accident and have not yet released a full report regarding suspected causes. However, officers did indicate that they do not suspect driver intoxication to have played a role. Collisions like this one are common and can happen for many different reasons, some of which drivers are unable to control like malfunctioning car parts, inadequate lighting of the roadway, and more.

Recovering After a Fatal Collision

Receiving the news of a deadly accident can leave people feeling completely overwhelmed. Suddenly losing somebody that you care about often causes a state of emotional shock, and it can be difficult to engage with your normal life during such a traumatic time. Coping with grief can be very difficult, and it’s important to have support from the people you love as well as your community.

However, fatal crashes can also cause serious financial problems for families already going through a hard time. The sudden loss of a family member often also means losing an important income source and/or access to vital household services like cooking, childcare, cleaning, and more. Without the support of their loved one, families are often unsure of what they can do to keep living their lives, and this stress can make it nearly impossible to focus on coping with grief.

Calling an Attorney

Thankfully, many families are able to get help by working with an attorney in order to claim compensation through a wrongful death case. However, negligent parties are usually quick to start building a defense against liability, and it’s critical to have a lawyer on your side early on so that you can make sure you are able to obtain the full amount of compensation you and your loved ones deserve.
