Deadly Rio Vista Auto Accident
On Sunday, November 8, 2020, one person was fatally injured during a Rio Vista motor vehicle accident. The California Highway Patrol (CHP) reported that the incident involved two vehicles and happened late at night on a local highway near Sherman Island. On November 10, 2020, the Sacramento County Coroner’s Office identified the decedent as Corey Joshua Brown, 29, of Stockton. In addition to the decedent, two other people were reportedly injured during the accident.
Crash Information
The accident happened on Highway 160 near Sherman Island just after midnight. According to the Rio Vista Fire Department, two vehicles collided head-on just south of the bridge over 3-Mile-Slough. Details about the events that preceded the crash have not yet been reported. However, pictures of the accident site show serious damage to both vehicles.
After the crash was reported, dispatchers immediately sent responders to the site. Upon arriving at the crash site, response officials found that three people had been severely injured. Tragically, one of these individuals was declared deceased on-site.
Two other individuals were placed on helicopter ambulances, one to the Muir Medical Center in Walnut Creek, and one to the Kaiser Hospital in Vacaville. Reports on their conditions have not been provided by hospital staff. Additionally, no other individuals were reported to have been involved in this crash.
Investigation
CHP has stated that their officers are conducting a full accident investigation in order to find out what could have caused this incident. So far, no suspected causes have been reported by officials.
