One Fatally Injured in Fiery Redding Collision

Fiery Redding Collision Kills One

On Friday, November 27, 2020, one individual sadly lost their lives during a fiery Redding collision. The accident occurred in the early morning and involved only one pickup truck. At this time, the Shasta County Sheriff’s Office is withholding the decedent’s identity until their family has received proper notification. A full-scale investigation into this crash is ongoing.

Crash Information

According to reports from California Highway Patrol (CHP) officers, the accident happened before 3:45 a.m. on the northbound side of Highway Interstate 5, a few miles to the north of Redding. Information about what led up to the crash has not been reported, and it is unclear whether or not anybody witnessed the collision.

CHP was first alerted by a caller who discovered a vehicle on fire off the side of the highway near Bridge Bay Road, just south of the bridge over Lake Shasta. When police reached the crash scene, they found a pickup truck that had been totally engulfed by flames. Additionally, police indicated that the pickup truck had been hauling a second vehicle using a U-Haul trailer.

After extinguishing the blaze, responders at the scene of the accident discovered the driver still inside of the vehicle. Tragically, the individual was pronounced deceased at the scene.

Investigation

As officers continue to investigate this accident, CHP has asked for public help. Anyone who may have witnessed the crash or has information about what took place is urged to report what they know to investigating officials. Callers should use the non-emergency number (530) 242-4300 in order to report what they know.

At this time, investigating officers have not yet reported any likely collision factors. Cases like this one may be complex and frequently involve things outside of driver control like losing control of your vehicle due to malfunctioning steering systems or brakes as well as being forced into dangerous maneuvers by serious pavement defects or poor roadway design.

Wrongful Death Damages

Families that lose loved ones typically experience intense grief and if your family member died during a sudden, unpredictable car accident, it can be even more difficult to cope with your emotions. Often, families feel shocked and overwhelmed and may have a hard time keeping up with their usual lives. During such a hard time, it’s important to do what you can to take care of yourself and family and to seek support from people in your community and friend group.

However, focusing on coping with your grief can be nearly impossible if losing your loved one has had a serious financial impact on your life. In many cases, families lose their main income source or may no longer have access to services that they used to rely on, like childcare. These issues can be serious, but it is possible to reach out for help.

By getting in touch with a Redding wrongful death lawyer and pursuing a claim, families can frequently obtain full compensation for their losses, affording them financial security during a very difficult period of their lives.
