A multi-vehicle accident on December 25, 2020, in southwestern Fresno County, left eight parties injured. The three-car accident occurred on Interstate 5 in the vicinity of Highway 145 shortly before 10:00 p.m. The collision prompted the closure of all traffic lanes, and a major traffic jam occurred shortly after. Two of the parties involved in the wreck suffered serious injuries and were transported via air ambulance to a local hospital for treatment. Their condition is unknown. Investigators with the California Highway Patrol (CHP) have not yet determined a cause for the Fresno car accident.

Types of Compensation in a Personal Injury Claim

Being involved in a motor vehicle collision can be a traumatic, life-changing experience. Not only have you suffered emotional trauma from the incident, but you may also experience a great deal of physical pain. Days, weeks, and even months after the traffic collision, you may still be recovering financially, physically, and emotionally. Having a skilled and compassionate Fresno personal injury attorney working diligently on your behalf will help take some of the pressure off and allow you to recover from your injuries.

When a personal injury claim is brought after a motor vehicle collision, the claimant may seek compensatory damages for the following from the insurance company representing the at-fault party:

  • Past and future medical expenses
  • Lost wages
  • Loss of future earnings
  • Pain and suffering

What Must Be Proven in a Personal Injury Case?

A personal injury case must prove how the at-fault party’s actions have caused the injury and associated losses. This can be done by collecting and preserving evidence from the scene of the car accident and other documents that can help paint the full picture of how the trauma has impacted the claimant’s life, such as:

  • Pictures of the traffic collision scene
  • Eyewitness testimony of the car crash
  • Records of medical treatment and expenses
  • Copies of CHP traffic collision report for the wreck
  • Documentation of lost wages from employers
  • Proof of the diminished quality of life due to the accident-related injury

How a Lawyer Can Help After a Fresno Multi-Vehicle Accident

At our law firm, our Fresno personal injury attorneys are dedicated to protecting the legal rights of those who were injured in motor vehicle accidents caused by negligence. We understand that people suffer catastrophic injuries in car accidents in Fresno County, which is home to some of the most dangerous highways in the nation. Traffic collisions on Highway 99 or Interstate 5 occur daily. When they happen because of someone else’s negligence, the driver and their insurance company must be held financially accountable for damages incurred.

Having an injury attorney on your side after a car wreck is essential. In some cases, the at-fault party’s insurance carrier may attempt to reduce the value of your personal injury claim or deny it altogether. Our skilled injury lawyers will conduct their own independent investigation of the car accident and demand fair compensation for your damages. In other situations, the driver who caused the collision will attempt to blame you or deny liability for the incident. Our legal team can counter such claims with the facts and fight to protect your legal rights for financial compensation.

The insurance company, including your own, may attempt to downplay the severity of the injuries you suffered in the traffic collision as a way of paying you less for your losses. We can gather and preserve the evidence necessary in demonstrating that your injuries are directly related to the car accident, and you deserve compensatory damages for your trauma. You have legal rights, and our law firm can fight for them. Contact us today to learn more about how we can protect your best interests after a Fresno car accident.
