The motorist indicated that the pedestrian was looking off to the east when he suddenly saw him and it was too late to stop. The motorist said he was travelling eastbound on Highway 4 at a reduced rate of speed because he knew the area is known for activity by pedestrians. After the tragic impact the pedestrian was thrown onto the hood of the motorist’s car which broke his windshield. He was driving a Ford sedan. Sadly, the pedestrian was thrown approximately 40 feet from the point of collision. Investigators said the victim possibly was carried to that point on the hood of the motorist’s car before he was able to bring the vehicle to a stop.
