Elk Grove Accident Along Grant Line Road Causes Major Injury

A motorcyclist suffered a major injury on August 4 in an accident northeast of Elk Grove. The collision occurred around 10:18 in the morning when the motorcycle collided with a pickup truck pulling a trailer. The accident near Elk Grove happened along Grant Line Road just west of Jackson Road, according to the California Highway Patrol (CHP) traffic report.

A Sacramento Attorney Who Will Be There for You

The owner and founder of AutoAccident.com, Ed Smith, protects his clients’ rights from unscrupulous insurance companies. He has built a law firm that is all about his clients, offering them legal experience and compassion. No one should have to face the legal aspects of an accident alone. In addition, major studies have shown that having an attorney’s help increases the probability of a positive outcome.

Motorcycle Accidents That Cause a Major Injury

Motorcycles are far less visible to other motorists and fail to provide structural protection to the rider, culminating in an abundance of traumatic injuries. Lesser stability and sensitivity to road conditions and defects are other factors that lead to a major injury. In addition, riders are about 27 percent more likely to be in a fatal accident as compared to other motorists. Although motorcyclists have less protection, those who wear a helmet are a third less likely to die. Helmets also protect against traumatic brain injury and facial trauma.

Damages Recovered in a Personal Injury Claim

Collecting evidence to support a claim following a personal injury is important. This helps prove that the at-fault person or entity was responsible and allows our injured client to file a claim. Recovery of damages includes:

  • Medical expenses can be reimbursed. This includes the cost of hospitalization, an ambulance, doctors’ visits, prescriptions, testing, surgery, and any other costs associated with the accident. If the injury is expected to continue into the future, those costs are also calculated.
  • Lost earnings are covered. This includes wages, bonuses, and other monies or value of perks in the job. Those who are self-employed may also claim lost earnings by using tax statements, deposits, and other records.
  • Pain and suffering as a result of the accident injury is recoverable. These are considered non-economic damages and include loss of consortium, the love and affection of family members, and more. In cases where the injured person suffers from anxiety, depression, sleeplessness, or other symptoms afterward and seeks professional treatment for post-traumatic stress disorder, that is recoverable.

Investigating a Motorcycle Accident

My law firm has successfully handled many motorcycle accidents over the years, obtaining fair compensation for our clients. Our investigative team begins by examining the accident site, interviewing witnesses, and checking for mistakes in the police report. They conduct accident reconstruction, examine the motorcycle for defects that might have caused the major injury, and look for area cameras that caught the collision as it happened.

Government negligence is sometimes the cause of an accident, especially involving a motorcycle rider, because these bikes are not as steady as larger vehicles. The investigators look for potholes, cracks or fissures in the pavement and for debris that should have been removed. Once the evidence is gathered together, our lawyers work to build a strong case that favors our client.
