Mack Road Intersection Site of Motorcycle Accident

A motorcyclist was seriously injured in a traffic collision on June 1 in Sacramento that involved another vehicle. The accident happened along Mack Road near the intersection with Franklin Boulevard sometime before 7:00 in the evening. Officers with the Sacramento Police Department arrived at the scene, along with Sacramento Fire Department emergency responders. The injured motorcyclist was transported to a nearby hospital for further assessment and treatment of the injuries.

Traffic Diverted During Investigation

Traffic was shut down along Mack Road between Franklin Boulevard and Tangerine Avenue while an investigation was conducted into the cause of the accident. Motorists were advised to use an alternate route.

Motorcycle Collisions Are Common in Sacramento

In 2017, according to the California Office of Traffic Safety, there were 113 motorcycle riders injured or who became fatalities in traffic collisions in Sacramento. Throughout Sacramento County that year, there were 500 injuries and fatalities, which ranked us as 19th out of the 58 counties.

How a Motorist Causes an Accident

Negligent motorists are a common cause of injuries to a motorcycle rider. The most frequent reason is a driver pulling out into the path of a rider. Other reasons include rear-ending a motorcyclist, stopping short in front of one, and changing lanes without looking to see if a rider is in the adjacent lane.

Choosing a Lawyer After a Motorcycle Accident Injury

Motorcyclists are sometimes looked at negatively by some members of a jury in an accident injury court case. However, many accidents involving motorcycles are caused by a negligent driver, not by the rider. It is important when a motorcycle rider is injured for them to contact a personal injury lawyer who is experienced in handling these types of claims.

Over the years, I’ve been successful in obtaining compensation for many riders. I even wrote a book on the subject a few years ago, entitled the “California Motorcycle Accident Handbook.” The book contains everything a motorcyclist needs to know when they’ve been in an accident. It’s free with Kindle unlimited or can be purchased for $0.99.

Investigating an Accident

Evidence is needed to support an injury claim following an accident that seriously injures or kills a motorcyclist. Our investigators go to the accident scene right away to begin accumulating evidence before it is lost or covered up when traffic begins to flow again. Some of the areas that are investigated include:

  • Reviewing the security footage from traffic surveillance and business cameras
  • Checking for errors in the police report and interviewing any witnesses to the collision
  • Performing accident reconstruction
  • Inspecting the vehicles for any factors that may have led to an accident such as defective parts, which can lead to a products liability claim
  • Looking for signs of road damage or lack of maintenance, which means the government entity in charge may be liable for damages

When the evidence has been compiled, our lawyers use it to build a robust case for compensation for our client. Whether it is used when negotiating with an insurance company or in court, it will be rock solid. That way, our client can obtain compensation for all of their medical costs, pain and suffering, and wages they lost from being unable to work.
