Accident on Auburn Avenue Causes Injury to Motorcyclist

A motorcycle injury accident was reported in Sacramento on December 20. The collision occurred when a Hyundai Elantra and motorcyclist collided around 2:26 p.m at the intersection of Auburn and Watt avenues. Upon the arrival of officers with the California Highway Patrol (CHP), it was discovered that the motorcyclist was down in the roadway.

Traffic in Busy Intersection Disrupted by Motorcycle Injury Accident

Traffic through the intersection began moving again once the vehicle was flipped over. However, the eastbound lanes of Auburn Avenue remained blocked as an investigation was conducted by authorities and injuries were assessed. It was determined that the motorcyclist had suffered minor injuries in the crash, and it was not reported whether the rider was taken to a hospital or received treatment at the scene of the motorcycle injury accident.

The Dangers Motorcyclists Face on the Roadway

Motorcyclists all know that there are dangers they face when they head out on the road from negligent motorists to roadway negligence. Although they try to stay safe, it isn’t always possible, and a motorcycle collision can cause serious trauma. Some of the dangers a motorcycle rider can face on the road that can result in a motorcycle injury accident include:

  • A poorly kept roadway can lead to a motorcyclist injury accident. From potholes and upheavals in the pavement to bad lighting and other problems, a lack of government maintenance can cause an accident involving a motorcycle rider. When this happens, the government entity that is in charge of maintenance may be held responsible.
  • Making a turn in front of a rider is a major cause of a motorcycle injury accident. In these cases, the driver has the duty of care to watch for oncoming vehicles. Because it is difficult to judge the speed and distance of another vehicle headed toward you, extra caution should be taken to avoid a collision.
  • Speeders are responsible for a high number of collisions that involve a motorcycle. Because they require a longer distance in which to stop and can lose control of their vehicle, speeders represent a danger to everyone sharing the road.
  • Distracted drivers may be texting, chatting on their cell phones, adjusting the radio, or another activity that takes their focus off the roadway and surrounding traffic.
  • Drunk drivers are a factor in many types of collisions, including a motorcycle injury accident. The inebriated driver has trouble staying in their lane, cannot judge their distance from other vehicles and reflexes are slowed, so it can be difficult for them to stop in time in an emergency.

Filing a Claim for Compensation

Motorcyclists can face the added problem of dealing with an insurance company or in civil court with the misperception that riders are often responsible for their own accidents. This is nothing more than hype instigated by the movie industry over the years. Our injury lawyers have successfully handled many claims following a motorcycle accident injury and know how to counter those arguments.
