Modesto Woman Killed in Car Wreck

Officials in San Joaquin County reported that a 25-year-old woman from Modesto was killed in a recent car wreck. The incident occurred on July 4, 2022, on northbound Highway 99 in the vicinity of French Camp Road.

Details on the Car Wreck That Killed a Modesto Woman

The San Joaquin County Sheriff’s Office indicated that a Modesto woman was driving northbound on State Route 99 when, for unknown reasons, her 2012 Chevrolet reportedly struck a call box. The vehicle allegedly veered off the road moments after the initial collision and crashed into a tree.

The sheriff’s office reported that the vehicle caught fire, and a passerby removed the woman from the vehicle. She was transported to an area hospital for immediate treatment. Sadly, she was declared deceased during hospitalization. Officials have not yet released her name due to an ongoing investigation.

Who is Responsible for a Single-Vehicle Crash?

A single-vehicle accident may occur for reasons that are outside of a motorist’s control, such as:

  • Automaker: Any part or component of a motor vehicle may have a defect in the design or manufacturing process. When this occurs, it may leave the occupants of the car in harm’s way when driving on the road. This may include fuel leaks that cause a fire, accelerator pedals remaining stuck, insufficient roof structure and support in a rollover collision, failure of an airbag deployment, faulty brakes, and more. When this occurs, an auto products liability claim may be brought against the automaker for damages incurred.
  • Government Entity: Catastrophic crashes may occur from unsafe road conditions, such as insufficient road warning signage, potholes, lack of guardrails, and poor roadway design. In other situations, insufficient road maintenance may also be a factor in such traffic collisions. Even the safest driver may be involved in a motor vehicle collision when roadway defects are present.

Hazardous road conditions and faulty vehicle parts may have the potential to result in motor vehicle collisions with catastrophic injuries or even death in some extreme cases.
