Modesto Solo Vehicle Crash

What Happened?
A man was traveling westbound along Coldwell Avenue in the vicinity of North Ninth Street. For reasons that are not known, the man veered his vehicle off the roadway and crashed into a cement divider located along the west side of Ninth Street. The vehicle overturned and came to a stop on its roof within feet of the train tracks that are located parallel to Ninth Street.

The following video shows officers from the Modesto Police Department were on site along with clean-up crews to assist in the solo vehicle crash. The video also displays the location of the accident and how the overturned vehicle was relatively close to the train tracks along Ninth Street.
What Caused the Accident?
According to Sergeant Ivan Valencia from the Modesto Police Department, it is too early in the investigation to determine what caused the accident. The accident was initially reported at 7:52 pm, so the time of day may have contributed to this accident. However, authorities have not disclosed an exact cause at this time. Traffic collision reports generally take up to two weeks and take more time in a fatal vehicular collision.
What Types of Injuries?
Authorities have not disclosed the types of injuries the man sustained. The man, who was identified as Bill Verhaegen, was believed to be in his late fifties. Due to the severity of this collision, Verhaegen sustained grave injuries and died immediately.
