Multiple-Vehicle Crash on S.R. 99 Causes Minor Injuries

A multiple-vehicle crash in Sacramento on June 23 resulted in minor trauma. The collision happened along southbound State Route 99 just south of the Broadway on-ramp around 11:40 a.m. Four vehicles were involved in the collision, according to the report by the California Highway Patrol (CHP), including a Hyundai Elantra, Chevy Tahoe, a Subaru, and another pickup.

Three Lanes Blocked on Highway Due to Multiple-Vehicle Crash

Debris was strewn across all the lanes, and three were blocked, including the fast lane. A tow truck was called for at least one of the vehicles. The investigation into the accident’s cause is being handled by the CHP traffic collision unit.

Defining Liability in Multiple-Vehicle Accidents

Identifying the at-fault driver or other entity can be fairly straightforward in simple accidents. Compensation and recovery of damages are essential aspects of an injured party’s legal rights. The situation becomes more complex when injuries result from a multi-vehicle accident.

It Is Possible That Multiple Drivers Were Negligent

A multiple-vehicle crash can often be attributed to more than one negligent driver. It is possible, for example, that one driver was tailgating, that another was speeding, and that yet another was distracted by their cell phone. When an injury lawyer investigates an accident, he or she can hold all at-fault parties liable. At-fault parties should be held accountable when injured victims face expensive medical bills, are unable to work and suffer trauma because of their injuries.

A Claim for Injuries Must Be Backed up by Evidence

In order to win compensation for injuries sustained in an accident, you need to provide evidence that shows the other driver or entity was negligent. As part of the investigation, injury lawyers examine a number of areas, including:

  • By obtaining a copy of the police report of the multiple-vehicle accident, the lawyer can recover evidence of traffic infractions and ensure the paperwork was completed correctly.
  • It is often possible to determine who was negligent by reconstructing the accident, indicating how it occurred.
  • Investigators will check area surveillance cameras to look for film footage.
  • In addition to providing corroborating information on how the collision occurred, speaking with witnesses will also help determine how and from what angles the injured person’s vehicle was struck and in what order.

After an Accident, Delayed Symptoms May Appear

Injuries that seem minor may later develop into serious health problems if delayed symptoms are present. To assist you with covering the costs of treating these issues, you may want to consider filing a personal injury claim.

Deciding Whether to File a Claim After a Multiple-Vehicle Crash

You should consider the severity of your injuries when making a decision about whether to file a personal injury claim. An injury claim could help you recover medical costs that exceed your deductible, for example. A personal injury claim may also be able to help you receive compensation if the accident caused emotional distress or other damages.
