May 2019 Stockton Community Event Calendar

As spring is actively present all around us, more and more organizations are taking advantage of this nice change in weather by setting up community activities open to the public. There are cultural holiday events, sports events, art events, and so much more. The best part is that if you live in or near Stockton, these events are all within driving distance. I have collected a short list of local activities taking place this May. They are listed below for your convenience.

Give yourself a night to kick back and relax at the ballgame of the Stockton Ports vs. Visalia Rawhide. The game will take place at Banner Island Ballpark in downtown Stockton. The Stockton Ports, a Professional Minor League Baseball team, have been around for more than 60 seasons and have claimed 11 league titles along the way. It is without a doubt that they have had a significant impact on the city’s history. Take a seat in the audience section, chow down on some traditional ballpark food, chill out with the gentle Delta breeze, and cheer on your hometown team!

33rd Annual Pastels USA: Opening Reception

Date: Thursday, May 16, 2019

Time: 6:30 p.m. – 9:00 p.m.

Location: 1201 N. Pershing Ave, Stockton, CA 95203

Admission: $5 – $8 tickets

This annual exhibition has nationwide popularity, with accredited pastel painters from all over the country that submit their own work in hopes of being featured. The medium that is referred to as pastel can be described as a powdered pigment that is ground into a paste and mixed with a gum binder. It is then rolled into a stick and resembles a chalk-like substance, except much more permanent. Join the Haggin Museum on Thursday night for the opening reception, where you can explore the new exhibit while indulging in snacks and a glass of wine.
