Man Identified After Fatal Placerville Accident

On Wednesday, March 11, 2020, the Placer County Sheriff’s Department reported the identity of a man who tragically lost his life during a recent pedestrian accident that took place in the city of Placerville. The man was identified as Don J. Dedinas, a 52-year-old resident of the community of Foothill Farms. The crash occurred one week earlier on Wednesday, March 4, 2020, and did not cause any other injuries. The incident remains under official investigation.

Collision Details

According to police, the accident happened at around 7:40 p.m. on Missouri Flat Road near the intersection of Perks Court, only a short distance to the south of Highway 50. A 73-year-old Pollock Pines woman was driving a 2007 Mitsubishi Raider northbound on Missouri Flat and was preparing to merge onto the eastbound onramp for Highway 50 when the collision occurred. California Highway Patrol (CHP) indicated that her vehicle crashed head-on into Dedinas, who investigators believe may have been rolling a car tire across the road.

Responders were immediately called to the accident site. As they reached the scene, emergency officials found that Dedinas had sustained extreme trauma during the incident. Sadly, he passed away at the location of the collision.

Investigation

As CHP continues its investigation into possible causes of this accident, officers have indicated that driving under the influence is not a suspected factor. Car accidents like this one can be caused by a variety of factors, some of which aren’t under driver control. These might include defective car parts or issues with the road.

The Impact of a Fatal Accident

Fatal collisions can have a huge impact on families. Learning that someone you love passed away in a sudden accident can be overwhelming, and many people experience a very intense period of grief following such a terrible event. The grieving process takes time and can make it very difficult to handle your normal life. During this time, it’s vital to seek out support from trusted friends, family members, and members of your community.

However, a fatal collision can also leave families in a bad spot financially. Often, a sudden death in your household can mean losing an income source that you and your family rely on to live your lives. In other cases, you may lose access to services that your loved one used to perform like childcare or home maintenance. On top of these concerns, paying for funeral and burial costs can often be difficult, and families can find themselves wondering how they will be able to afford to give their loved one a proper memorial service.

Getting Help

Because these concerns are serious, it’s important for families to reach out to an area wrongful death lawyer who can help them hold negligent parties financially responsible for the losses they have suffered. By filing wrongful death claims, families are frequently able to claim payments that provide them with stability during a hard time.
